As soon as he saw it on the hori­zon, Christo­pher Colum­bus knew he was going to dis­cover Amer­ica. There is a statue – the Statue of Lib­erty – at the entrance to New York which is nearly fifty meters high. In Decem­ber 2008, the statue was again unveiled in Alain Godon’s paint­ing and it was a mag­nif­i­cent success.
