Le Touquet : Patina and colour in Alain Godon’s latest exhibition

At the opening night last Saturday, the Milani Gallery presented Alain Godon’s most recent work. Visitors can, until the beginning of June, discover his sculptures: bronzes with patinas in hues of brown like the “Empire State Building”; or in green, such as the originally distinctive head of the “Statue of Liberty”, where “the brass scaffolding surrounding the head took a craftsman over one month to make” Alain Godon confided.”

As for the sculpture itself, that took a year of my time”. It is the same story for the other sculpture with a white patina depicted here and entitled “La porte de Paris”. Emmanuel Milani, director of the gallery explained, “the bronzes were cast in Bologna in Italy by the Venturi Arte foundry”. There are also earlier and more recent oil on canvas paintings in the exhibition dating from 1994 to 2004, in addition to his well-known BildoReliefo works which characterise his art and are a mixture of cartoon art, art brut, naïve painting and photography.
The exhibition can be seen until 9 June at the Milani Gallery (12 avenue du Verger).
