Five hundred artists gather in Le Touquet for the Godon Trophy
P rize money of €10,000 to the winner, an all-expenses paid trip and the opportunity of an exhibition in a prestigious Miami gallery: this is what the artist who takes away the first prize in the Godon Trophy stands to win this afternoon.
Yesterday, Alain Godon was delighted to welcome five hundred artists, photographers and sculptors, with one work of art apiece, and who were assembled at the Palais de Congrès and the Hôtel de Ville. These are artists at the beginning of their careers and who hope to achieve public recognition. “This is the end aim of this event”, Alain Godon explained. “The Godon Trophy in Le Touquet is the only place that gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work free of charge. Sometimes, in other places you have to pay as much as a thousand euros for the right to hang a painting on a wall. Here, it’s free! But above and beyond the prize, which is of course important, the Trophy is an opportunity for artists to meet and compare experiences.”
