Le Touquet Paris-Plage 2011 will be a year of major undertakings and a birthday unlike any other
It was actually on 28 March 1912 that Paris-Plage as a town became independent from the town of Cucq. Starting in the summer of 2011 and continuing until the end of the following year, the town’s council has decided to celebrate the resort’s 100th anniversary which will culminate in a top secret event on 28 March 2012. The leitmotif: 100 years — 100 events… and the address ceremony was the opportunity to reveal the first event. The entire town council had assembled in the Palais des Congrès for the unveiling of the model of the sculpture, signed by Alain Godon, and which will be erected on this road junction. This sculpture is none other than the Eiffel Tower and was originally created by the artist for the courtyard of the Bristol Hotel… this time however it is to be a permanent structure and with its 10 metres in height it will tower proudly. The sculpture, a cocky salute from Paris-Plage to Paris should be finished towards the end of July.
