Alain Godon – a modern poet
More than a gifted painter and innovative sculptor, French artist Alain Godon is poet that tells the story of our civilisation with passion and humour. His work is a journey to our own cities.
Godon is a meticulous painter. One can only admire the precision of his brushstrokes, the dynamism of his constructions and the complexity of the stories he tells through his own technique called BildoReliefo, where he transforms his original oil paintings into unique digital works of art. And then, there are sculptures – all inspired by his paintings. The perfect finish and polish and the intricacy of the bronze work depict monuments with passion and humour. The narrative component introduced into his sculptures is real and intense. It’s an architectural representation where art becomes language.
Six years ago Godon fell in love with Miami and, as a result, he produced a series of paintings in homage to the city’s unique Art Deco patrimony, which was applauded at an exclusive exhibition in 2011 at the New World Center. More recently the City of Miami Beach commissioned Godon to illustrate the artwork for its 2015 Miami City Beach Report. The report’s images depict buildings and scenery from Miami Beach. Godon was invited to exhibit at the Matisse Museum in 2017 to showcase artwork inspired in Tahiti – a rare opportunity available to a very few and a testament to his position as a world-class artist.
