Alain Godon, contemporary “architect of dreams” in the footsteps of Matisse.
Alain Godon, contemporary “architect of dreams” in the footsteps of Matisse. Alain Godon presented his exhibition themed on travel in the museum created by Matisse in 1952. No accidental choice, since these two colourist artists have more than one thing in common. Between New York and Tahiti, his 150 or so works take us to another singular and dreamlike world.
An artist with a child’s perspective
The generosity, passion, humanity and desire to spread joy that radiate from Alain Godon as a human being, also shine through in his works. They recount everyday stories, moments and places with spontaneity, humour and tenderness; as in our inner journeys. What we can also see here is how in his own distinctive style he absorbs the character of the architecture to give it a human face, whilst at the same time putting himself into the scenario.
A fascination with the relief image
Whether through his sculptures, giant pop-ups, BildoReliefos or through his hitherto unseen installations, such as the life-sized New York taxi made of resin and sand, the three dimensional image is an essential component of Alain Godon’s work, of his “Architecture of Dreams”. This exhibition is a true explosion of colour, of joyousness and of inventiveness. Something to enrapture old and young, contemporary art buffs and the simply curious, alike.
