Opening night with a new style at the gallery Fardel
The flowering of Godon! In this exhibition of 40 water colours, 3 oils paintings and 9 relief images (high definition images on steel sheets and reworked to give a shadow effect), we can see two diametrically opposed concepts: the relief images of Le Touquet in the showroom at the back depict places in Le Touquet well known to both its inhabitants and its visitors alike: the town hall, the post office, the market place, all in the inimitable style of the artist and then, to our great surprise, delicate works using water colour, a traditional technique, which portray flowers, and, as the man never does anything by halves, he has linked up with another artist, François Bequelin of the “Bouquetterie” — the florist on the rue de Metz — to assail our sense of smell as well as sight. These works, sumptuously framed, surprise with their delicacy, but on closer inspection, we are able to recognise the artist and his style, particularly in his outlines and his colours; the artist who once again has chosen to” live dangerously” and to wrong-foot all his fans with a unique and yet remarkable experience.
