The art and stuff of Alain Godon
The chrysalis turns into a butterfly. Godon pays homage today to his town. Why when you have exhibited in all the large cities, including London and New York, have you devoted two years of your work to a series of paintings on Le Touquet?
I believe everyone in whatever capacity should shout about the town they love. A few years ago I actually put In front of Hubert Flament a project, a project that was and still is very close to my heart, to create an art festival for young painters, visual artists and photographers who often don’t get an opportunity to show their work under the spotlight. Le Touquet isn’t just a tourist town, it’s a town where there is a very real artistic effervescence and this needs to be publicised. Besides this is where many of my collectors are based, and all my friends are here as well as all those who have worked hard to make me well known.
